Since my daughter Ava was born 3 years ago I’ve really begun to notice and study the family photographs of friends and colleagues. One friend in particular, fellow photographer Pete Emerson, has a series of black-n-white images of his daughters when they were younger framed in his kitchen. The photographs are like time stamps to specific moments of their youth. They are to say the least inspiring to another photographer. One can only hope to capture a moment as Pete has done with his children.

That’s what I thought about after seeing this image of Ava playing with her friend Gideon. I thought maybe, just maybe I had captured a moment of my own.
